Myopenbar Presents: Team Band
When we discovered that locals Team Band had the same enthusiasm for getting drunk and blacking out as we do, we knew it was only fitting to have them headline our first foray into music in Chicago. Between them and openers Raise High The Roof Beam and Thrillage, it's bound to be an excellent night featuring some of Chicago’s finest talent... that is, if you can remember it the next morning.
- Team Band: If Les Savy Fav and Art Brut got in a bar fight while trying to out-drink each other, Chicago’s Team Band would fall somewhere in-between the bottle smashing. Relying on a swaggering art-punk sound, the group (who have only been around for several years) have already caught the attention of Jim DeRogatis, who claims that he "fell in love with the band midway through the first song."
- Raise High The Roof Band: With influences that range from Nigel Godrich to Abraham Lincoln, locals Raise High The Roof Band “do nifty things with banjo, ukulele, and mandolin,” according to The Chicago Reader, and are masters at crafting the perfect folksy-pop song. If you’re lucky, maybe they’ll don corncob pipes during their set.
- Thrillage: Featuring former members of Spitalfield, Thrillage was started with the sole purpose of having fun, a fact that is clearly evident in their energetic live shows and band name. Abandoning the sugar high, power-pop of Spitalfield for a more refined, anthemic indie-rock sound, Thrillage know exactly what they’re after this time around: a good time for all those involved.
- Sailor Jerry’s Rum open bar 10:30-11:30pm
